The Permanent Residents of The Wild Lilly

We have a small herd of mares who have been carefully chosen for their diverse bloodlines, their comformation, gait, and disposition, and their potential genetic mixes with our stallion. Different mares are available each year for custom breeding. Choose a mare of interest and email to see if she is available to breed. Most of our mares are used as trail horses, a couple for endurance training, and a couple are broodmares.

Lilly is an outgoing mare with several fabulous gaits, including a sweeeeeet rack. She also sports quite a pedigree with the World Grand Champions GLL's Carbon Copy, Rodger's Perfection, and Go Boy's Shadow on her papers, as well as The Last Gold Chance and Big Yellow Chief. Her dainty arabian-like head is the crowning jewel of this elegant mare, and bold and strong trail horse.

Maggs is "IT." She is the all-around perfect horse. Personality, gait, willingness to try anything and please her rider. She is Sam's main trail horse and was bred by and in foal to Dillon's Copper Splash. With Maggs and Splash's bloodlines and either a spotted sorrel or spotted palomino resulting, this foal should be outstanding. Stay tuned! She is due to foal next March.

Carmen's pedigree is heritage eligible and we are currently in the process of registering her with the society. Although you see Davy saddling her up, she is truly happiest as a brood mare.

Virginia is a refined buckskin mare about 14 hands with stripe and two white hind socks. And boy, does she produce color!  She produced a palomino filly in 2001, and a beautiful classic champagne filly in 2004 which tested at the lab to carry a creme gene.  Her 2005 foal was a buckskin colt and her 2006 foal, a dainty perlino filly.  2007 brought us a stunning cremello filly and 2009 blessed us with a very lit up spotted buckskin colt.  All of her foals are born hitting the ground with a natural 4-beat gait, Virginia is sired by a grandson of Pride's Generator and her dam's bloodlines go back to Pride of Midnight and Hall Allen.  Virginia is very gentle and doesn't mind when you handle her foals.  A well-seasoned riding horse who is great with children, she can also move out when asked. She responds to a very soft hand, but tolerates the inexperienced. Her perfect head-nodding running-walk has been thrown to all of her foals that we have had the opportunity to love.

Jewels is double-registered as a racking horse. She flat-foots, run-walks and racks. Incredibly smooth, she is a love to be around. Her pedigree is VERY different from our other mares, which makes for a good diversity in our foals.

This very special palomino mare Tess (fondly known as Pooh) was our first baby, and has had extensive training since day one. This training is catalogued in many albums, so just ask if you are truly interested in her. She was ridden beginning at two by my two year-old neice and then at four softly by me. At five I put her fully under saddle and we hit the rocky, hilly, riverine trails of the Missouri Ozarks. She also continues training in the arena at The Wild Lilly, as seen here gaiting around the poles in a rope halter and lead. Her go equals her whoa. She does anything you ask. She can lead, ride shotgun, follow, and ride alone. Very respectful of your space, this is one of the most outstanding mares you will ever meet.
