About Us

Set in beautiful Northern Arizona, Western Walking Horses is located at Dancing Jackrabbit Ranch, 80 acres of juniper trees and grassland. The background is blue skies and mountains every where you look. Water and grass are scarce, but hazardous terrain abounds to train our horses for the worst trail conditions!

We now have a second location at Walkin' Wright Wranch in Chino Valley, Arizona

Welcome to Western Walking Horses, home of flat-shod or barefoot Tennessee Walking Horses trained in the western tradition. Our goal is to specialize in the best disposition, gait, conformation and color, primarily points and spots.  See the Stallion page and meet Spurs Maxamillion, our spotted buckskin stallion who because of his color genetics will only produce pointed offspring...bays, buckskins, amber champagnes, perlinos and amber crèmes.

Hello...

We are Samantha Murin and Kathy Wright proprietors of Western Walking Horses.

Samantha is a Professor of Geography at Northern Arizona University, specializing in climate modeling and has had a passion for horses all of her life.  In the summer of 2007, Sam had the opportunity attend Parelli University in Pagosa Springs, Colorado for 6 weeks.  She and Lilly (her primary riding horse and love) had a wonderful time and continue working towards their certification in Parelli Natural Horsemanship.  Sam's goal is to someday have an Equine therapy program for children with autism and women who are survivors of domestic violence.

Kathy is a Design consultant by trade and horse lover by heart. When not assisting clients or taking care of my family, she can be found in the barn spending time with the horses or at the computer studying Equine color genetics, a fascination both Sam and her share. Her goal is to someday own an Equestrian and Corporate Retreat Center with my husband John.  To read more about this project click on the following link.  www.mountainskies.com/MSEC/ .

Our shared goal is to educate the Southwest about the wonderful Tennessee Walking Horse, that contrary to popular belief makes a great trail, endurance and all round working ranch horse, in addition to being the smoothest pleasure ride around..  As the saying goes: to ride a one is to own one.

Thank you for visiting our website.  We hope your time here has been informative and educational as well as enjoyable.  Please contact us if you have any questions about our horses or just interested in the breed or if you would like to be added to our link page.
